Message from the president

Tony Jezzi

St. Paul’s Foundation President

Welcome to the
St. Paul’s Foundation

I hope this annual report provides an accurate summary of all the milestones and achievements of the St. Paul’s Foundation in 2021-2022. This was my second year as President of the Foundation and I am hugely proud of all its achievements.

During the last selection process in May, when the candidates sat their English aptitude tests, I met some of the parents who were waiting for their children to finish their exam. I spoke to them about the daily changes we see in the scholars who join our scholarship programme. As a father and former scholar at St Paul’s (my mother taught here), I can’t emphasise enough how pleased I was to hear how grateful the parents were that their children should be given this opportunity.

Of course, not all candidates are selected, but it is gratifying to see that just by taking part in the selection process, the candidate’s horizons broaden and they are able to envisage a different future. The St. Paul’s Endowment fund, with its matched funding objective, has allowed us to offer scholarships to ten more students this year.

We have been encouraged by the school community’s increased interest and support for the Foundation. Changing lives through education is a challenge, it’s hard work but it also requires money. To achieve our goal of having ten percent of students in the Senior School receiving scholarships by 2026, the equivalent on 50 scholars, we will need considerable funding. We hope this report will entice you to continue supporting us in our quest to transform lives.

Finally, I would like to thank the St Paul’s Foundation team, the Administrative Board and the various members of the St Paul’s community who work tirelessly to make sure that our dream becomes a reality.

My thanks to all.
