We had the honour of celebrating the graduation of our Upper 6 class a few days ago. Among them were three of our scholars: Gregório, Elisa and Antonio. They joined St. Paul’s School in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, and their journey so far is an example of perseverance and success.

On 7th June, the students enjoyed the graduation ceremony followed by a ball, in a night of great emotion. During the ceremony, Gregório received the prize for academic excellence (Prize Giving) in the subject “Brazilian Social Studies”, a great recognition deserved for his effort and dedication.

Their trajectory

Gregório, Elisa and Antonio went through our entire rigorous selection process, including the Preparatory Course, alongside fellow candidates like Jonas – who has already shared his experience on the Prep Course with us. The three entered Form 4 and, after four years of dedication, completed their stage at St. Paul’s School.

During this time, they completed the IGCSE and IB curricula. They also took advantage of international opportunities, participating in summer courses in Europe and the USA – Gregório and Antonio went to the United Kingdom, while Elisa went to California. In addition, they participated in trips, Model UN, band competitions and several other activities that enrich the experience of our pupils.

And now?

Now, these students are ready to begin a new phase in their lives in higher education, both in Brazil and abroad.

Gregório was selected for a scholarship in the prestigious global “gap year” programme, Baret Scholars, a structured programme that selects 180 students for experiences in several countries around the world. After this period, he will enter the University of Toronto to study International Relations, also with a full scholarship. Antonio and Elisa are currently analysing options from several institutions.

These inspiring stories fill us with pride and are a testament to the transformative impact of scholarships. We have scholars in every year of the Senior School, and every year we will have a new class of graduates achieving great things.

Therefore, the continued support of our donors is essential — stories like those of Gregório, Elisa and Antonio and others to come are only possible thanks to this joint effort towards transformation. Together, we continue to open doors and create opportunities for more students to achieve their dreams.
