After almost 18 months of intense studies, hard work, and dedication, the St. Paul’s Foundation has concluded another Selection Process with the selection of the new scholars who will join St. Paul’s School in August. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the St. Paul’s Foundation welcomes 15 new scholars – the highest number selected in a single process since we began the Scholarship Programme.
Our new scholars are:
- Form 1: Lara and Lucas
- Form 2: Alicia, Aurora, and Guilherme
- Form 3: Caetano A., Lorena, Lorenzo, and Carolina
- Form 4: Felipe, Valentina, Arthur, Sofia, Maria Rosa, and Emily
With the arrival of these new scholars and considering the three who have just graduated, we will start the next school year with the extraordinary total of 40 scholars from Form 1 to Upper 6. We are getting closer to our goal of 50 scholars by St. Paul’s centenary in 2026!
Our newly selected scholars have already experienced their welcome at St. Paul’s during the Induction Days. Over two days, the new scholars and their families came to St. Paul’s for enrolment procedures and attended a series of orientation sessions with teachers and members of the school leadership.
The journey to the scholarship
The 2023-2024 Selection Process began at the end of January last year and reached a milestone of 185 candidates, our highest number of applicants so far. Out of these, 90 advanced to the Assessment Day and 36 progressed from the exams to the interview stage. Finally, 24 students completed the full Preparatory Course, including two semesters of English immersion, and out of the 24, 15 were selected to enter St. Paul’s School and have now become our newest scholars.
This year’s selection process was truly intense and transformative. This edition included new classes and assessments, such as science exams and classes in “English Language, Culture and Current Affairs”, a new addition to the curriculum.
Next steps
Over the next few weeks, the new students will receive support from the St. Paul’s Foundation and the school to complete their enrolment process and prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, which begins in the second week of August.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Selection Process is ongoing. After individual interviews with 41 candidates by the leadership team, the Foundation has invited 28 participants for the 2024-2025 Prep Course.
The course begins at the start of the new academic year, with the first semester consisting of an English language immersion, including classes at Cultura Inglesa and weekly sessions at St. Paul’s.
