The St. Paul’s Foundation Scholarship Programme offers a transformative opportunity for pupils seeking access to a world-class education. The programme provides full scholarships covering all necessary costs to support a pupil’s experience at St. Paul’s School. Applications for entry in August 2026 will be open from 3rd February to 18th March 2025.
Below, we outline the main eligibility and application criteria, which are continually reviewed to ensure the quality and fairness of our scholarship programme:
1. Age requirement: between 11 and 13 years old by 31 December of the application year
The programme is aimed at students aged 11 to 13 years, entering or currently attending “Ensino Fundamental II.” This age group allows us to better evaluate the student’s motivation and resilience while ensuring that candidates already have a solid foundation in English, facilitating their adaptation to St. Paul’s curriculum, which is predominantly taught in English.
Entry at this age is also strategic, as the later years at St. Paul’s require preparation for rigorous diplomas such as the IGCSE and the IB. Therefore, new scholars must begin their journey before or at the start of these academic cycles.
2. To be properly enrolled in a public or private school and have no fails/disapproval in the academic records
Applicants must be regularly enrolled in a public or private school, demonstrating consistent attendance and strong academic performance. Students with academic failures in their transcripts or school reports will not be eligible.
Private school students may or may not be receiving scholarships or discounts on tuition at their current school.
3. To have a family income threshold that shows they could not otherwise afford an education at St. Paul’s School
The Foundation provides full scholarships covering tuition fees, uniforms, school supplies, extracurricular activities, and other expenses. To ensure the scholarships reach those who genuinely need them, families must demonstrate that their gross household income is insufficient to cover the costs of attending St. Paul’s.
Each case is assessed individually, taking the family’s financial context into account. Required documentation will be requested throughout the selection process.
4. Strong English language skills
While fluency in English is not mandatory, it is essential that students have a solid foundation in the language to succeed in the selection process and later as scholarship recipients.
Since classes at St. Paul’s are conducted in English, candidates must show confidence in communicating and understanding the language. This is a critical factor for academic success and adaptation to the Scholarship Programme.
5. A unique talent in music, arts, drama, or sports is an advantage (not compulsory)
While not a requirement, demonstrating skills in areas such as music, arts, theatre, or sports can be an advantage in the selection process. However, the primary focus of the programme remains on the student’s academic potential, motivation, and commitment.
6. To live in São Paulo / Greater São Paulo
To maintain a balanced routine with adequate time for study, leisure, and family life, students must live within a maximum travel distance of 1.5 hours from the school, considering public transportation. This criterion ensures logistical feasibility, essential for fully benefiting from the scholarship.
7. Positive attitude, drive, and commitment
Being a scholarship recipient at St. Paul’s demands more than academic excellence; it requires a positive attitude, resilience, and commitment. The selection process evaluates how students handle challenges and demonstrate determination to make the most of the opportunities provided.
The St. Paul’s Foundation selection process marks the beginning of a transformative journey for talented and dedicated students. If you meet the criteria and are ready for this challenge, don’t miss the chance to apply and become part of this inspiring story!
