We are already halfway through the St. Paul’s Foundation Prep Course. During this time, candidates were able to have an immersive experience, becoming familiar with the school’s facilities and also bonding with one another.
So far, candidates were able to attend Chemistry and Biology classes at the St. Paul’s labs and also take on subjects such as Global Perspectives – specific to the curriculum offered at St. Paul’s. All classes are taught in English.
A special class offered to candidates was on “Portfolio Learning”, where students could better understand the school’s learning and assessment system, as well as the IGCSE and IB curricula.
Dr Jon Dicks, who taught one of these classes, said that: “I was impressed with the engagement and enthusiasm of the Foundation’s candidates. We worked together to produce a poster, which they presented in front of the class. They were amazing and brave, taking on this challenge without being forewarned.”
Candidates also had special meetings: one with current Foundation scholars and another with the school’s prefects. Prefects are pupils who have special responsibilities within different areas of the school – such as Languages, Sports, Pastoral Support, etc. – and who were able to explain to our candidates about the multiple opportunities offered by St. Paul’s.
The preparatory course will continue until the end of May. During this period, candidates will also undergo interviews with their families and with a psychologist.
The selection of scholarship holders to enter the next academic year will be made in June.
