This year’s production of our St. Paul’s Senior School Theatre Company was Wonderland and we had scholars’ participation on and off stage!
While Alice in Wonderland is a classic story that has been adapted many times before, our pupils decided to prepare a brand new version of this forever classic. Supported by the Head of Drama, Mr Rodrigo Seidl, the 26 actors involved had a lot of input throughout the process as they tested ideas to create a re-imagined Alice. In the production, Alice is a teenager full of angst and sarcasm, who has lost her ability to dream and play. In the “cringe generation”, this is an Alice who will need Wonderland to find herself again.
We saw our scholars participating in many aspects of the play! While some of them took front-facing roles, others participated as prop and set artists, members of the production team, and musicians. This year, we also had current candidates from the Foundation’s selection process having the chance to watch the play.
The St. Paul’s Parent Teacher Association also organised a special bake and merch sale at the entrance of the theatre, which was also Alice in Wonderland themed. All the revenue from sales went to support the Foundation’s Scholarship Programme.
These initiatives encompass St. Paul’s and the Foundation’s view of holistic education and helping our pupils’ development in all areas, including the artistic and social aspects. They also serve as an opportunity to continue building on our partnership with St. Paul’s generous community.
