St. Paul’s School recognises the crucial role and importance of music education in the journey of its students. More than just a subject, learning music positively impacts academic performance, holistic development, and interpersonal skills. For our scholars, music has been a powerful tool for expression, learning, and connection.
Among the highlights is Benício, currently in Form 2, who shares how his participation in the school orchestra has transformed his experience: “We meet every Wednesday after school and rehearse a variety of music genres, from classical to rock, for an hour. Last year, this led us to perform at the Carol Service, and we’re going to perform there again this year, with even more songs. It’s something I really enjoy because I get to play the piano, which I love, and learn music with a mix of students from Form 1 to Lower 6, with whom I get along really well.”
Letícia also found at St. Paul’s the chance to explore dreams that once seemed distant. Since starting in Form 4, she has been taking violin lessons—an instrument she had always wanted to learn but never had the opportunity to before.
Meanwhile, Fernando and Giordano have used their guitar skills to shine in important school events such as International Day, which celebrates the cultural diversity of our school community, and Prize Giving, the annual awards ceremony for outstanding students. Additionally, both participate in workshops geared toward the London College of Music exams, an internationally recognised certification that enriches students’ academic profiles and is highly valued by universities worldwide.
St. Paul’s School is proud to be the first school in Brazil to offer the London College of Music exams. These preparatory workshops go beyond the regular music curriculum, helping students refine their technical and artistic skills. Moreover, our scholars have the opportunity to participate in weekly singing lessons held every Thursday. These special classes not only prepare students to join the school choir or form their own groups but also contribute to building self-confidence and artistic expression.
The impact of music education on our scholars extends far beyond grades and performances. Whether playing the piano, violin, or guitar, or engaging in singing and the orchestra, our students demonstrate that music is a universal language that elevates the educational experience and prepares them for a bright future.
