Our current Form 2 scholar, Victor, recently gave a presentation has just delivered a fantastic presentation for the Junior McCann Society that stood out among his peers and showcased his public speaking, articulation, and research skills.

The McCann Scholar’s Society is a St. Paul’s School activity that develops pupils’ public speaking skills. It exists to promote excellence in thinking, personal research, delivery and presentation skills, and the ability to captivate an audience. Topics and themes are chosen by the pupil, who has a limited time frame to review ideas with attendees.

Victor chose a challenging topic – the Palestine-Israeli conflict – and delivered an amazing presentation! Our scholar surprised all attendees by choosing an advanced subject for his academic curriculum and age, and by treating it with great maturity. He managed to translate the information well to an older audience, including Form 5 and Sixth Form pupils.

When inquired about the reason behind the topic choice, Victor said, “although this is not in my Form 2 curriculum, I found it a very interesting theme to investigate and address in Junior McCann.”

His Maths teacher, Mr Evandro Ivanov, attended Victor’s presentation and commented: “his delivery was impressive for somebody at such a young age. He chose a challenging topic and did excellent research about it.”

Dr Barry Hallinan, who leads the Junior McCann Society at St. Paul’s, added: “Victor had set the tone very well, making sure his research was detailed, rich and relevant. His delivery style, hesitant at first, soon came into its own and he was able to share his thoughts in a compelling manner. The positive reaction from all attendees attested to the fact that he had done a great job”.
