The International Day is one of the most important days for our St. Paul’s community. This traditional event, organised by the school’s PTA (Parents and Teachers Association), has been a cornerstone of our school culture for over 20 years. It not only highlights the rich diversity within our community but also raises vital funds for various charities.
In past years, the St. Paul’s Foundation has participated by setting up the “Cup of Joy” stall, an open-hair coffee shop with delicious coffee-based beverages and baked goods, thanks to amazing partners such as Orfeu Cafés, Almanara, Sucrier and HT Doces Saudáveis. However, this year marked a significant shift as the Foundation became one of the main charities supported by International Day. Alongside Mão Amiga and the British Society, the Foundation will receive the funds raised during the event, which will go towards supporting our Scholarship Programme.
This year, the Foundation was ahead of the British Fête, featuring 10 different stalls with activities and entertainment for children. Some of the fun activities included Crazy Cars, Splat the Rat, and a Treasure Map Hunt. The stalls for International Day are traditionally organised by volunteer families, and for the British Fête, our Foundation scholars and their families took an active role in helping at the features. They also offered engaging workshops in braiding, and cookie and cupcake decoration.
Mirella, the mother of our F5 scholar Summer, shared her experience by saying, “International Day is a fantastic event to integrate the scholars and their families into such a diverse community.” The day was even more special with a showcase of our pupils’ talents, as a group of our scholars took to the stage to sing and play musical instruments.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and look forward to the continued success and integration of our scholars through events like International Day. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this day memorable and impactful!
