The St. Paul’s Foundation helps transform lives through Education, benefiting the whole community. Strengthening other great causes of positive social impact makes this work even more rewarding. That’s why this year, for the first time, the Foundation participated in St. Paul’s School’ International Day, an event that supports great causes and social initiatives. The 2022 edition took place on July 2nd.

The International Day is organized by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which brings together parents and the entire school community. The main objective of the event is to raise funds for the charities assisted by the school: ACER, TUCCA, Mão Amiga, Liga Solidária and British Society. The ID celebrates different nationalities and cultures of the school community during a festive day, attended by around two thousand people.

The foundation’s participation

The “foundation nation” at International Day was “the coffee nation”. St. Paul’s Foundation launched Cup of Joy, a coffee shop service to distribute flavour, solidarity, and joy at our events. We took advantage of the International Day to launch the brand and inaugurate the coffee service to the public in partnership with UM Coffee Co., which generously supported the foundation with the transfer of know-how, baristas, coffee equipment and delicious food.

Coffee is very present in the lives of Brazilians and those who don’t dismiss a cup of the beverage know: that sharing fresh coffee with someone is also sharing affection and joy. This is what Cup of Joy represents.

All coffees served by Cup of Joy are of the highest quality category, Specialty Coffee, following protocols of the international body Specialty Coffee Association. The baristas prepared several drinks with and without milk, hot and cold. It was also possible to taste sweet and savoury delicacies such as brownies, cookies and puff pastry.

The St. Paul’s Foundation caffeinated nation also brought features such as Garam Victor Um, a barista ranked 9th in the 2021 World Brewers Cup Championship, in Milan, Italy, who prepared coffee for the attendees. To top it off, coffee grinders were drawn so that participants could taste their high-quality coffee freshly ground at home.

All proceeds from the sale of food and products by Cup of Joy were fully allocated to the five institutions supported by International Day. This year, in figures recently released by the PTA, the event raised BRL 1,189,937.12, of which BRL 897,342.62 were donated to entities benefiting from the event (the difference in value corresponds to the event’s expenses). The Foundation’s staff and volunteers are grateful to be part of this movement.
