From 17th to 19th November, the St. Paul’s School Theatre Company presented their traditional school play, which this year was their version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, by William Shakespeare. The Foundation attended this special event both on and off stage.

The play is one of Shakespeare’s most famous comedies. This is a story of conflict, love and the power of dreams and imagination. After three nights of performance, all attendees agreed that the scenery, as well as the comic timing of the actors and the dynamic between them was incredible.

This year, the Foundation scholars had record-high participation in the play. In total, six of our scholars were actively involved: as part of the main cast and ensemble or in the production – supporting the set, music and lighting and even developing the visual art used to promote the event. Four of these six scholars were also part of the cast on stage.

The Foundation also participated in a Bake Sale with the support of school pupils at the entrance and exit of the theatre, a tasteful feature for the audience before and after the show. Scholars’ families also engaged in the activity, and members of the school community got to learn more about the scholarship programme. In addition, all the profit will be reverted to support the Foundation.

Drama lessons and the school play are two of the most popular activities amongst scholars and an incredible opportunity to develop their skills both on and offstage.
