St. Paul’s School pupils started their new academic year in mid-August. It was the first time our new 11 scholars would step into the school as Pauleans. During this week, they got to meet their new teachers, tutors, and get acclimated to their new timetable and schedule. They’ve also already joined clubs and societies and engaged with their new classmates.
The beginning of the school year can be a nerve-wracking but also exciting opportunity. To support our pupils, the foundation and the school partner in building different strategies to help them integrate in our community.
St. Paul’s Foundation now has scholars throughout all years of the Senior School, from Form 1 to Upper 6, as follows:
- Form 1: Benício, Maitê and Melissa
- Form 2: Valentina
- Form 3: Gustavo, Victor, Isabela and Manoela
- Form 4: Analú, Catarina M., Catarina A., Fernanda, Júlia P., Maria
- Form 5: Claudia G., Fernando, Giordano, Julia S., Rafaela, Letícia, Summer
- Lower 6: Claudia N., Enzo, João Gabriel and Mariana
- Upper 6: Antonio, Elisa and Gregório
For our scholars who have started their Lower 6th journey, these first two weeks were also of great importance as they received their Cambridge IGCSEs results, which will now guide their decisions through their IB Diploma for the next two years.
Simultaneously, we welcomed our Prep Course candidates, who have recently started their in-person classes in the school, as part of the selection for an opportunity to receive a full scholarship in St. Paul’s School. During the course, that can last up to 12 months, pupils participate in a preparatory course with classes led by volunteer teachers at St. Paul’s. They get to know teachers and members of the school leadership, as well as the school facilities. From now until early December, 32 candidates will attend an on-line English course at Cultura Inglesa and sit weekly on-site language lessons at St. Paul’s.
Their first session happened on Wednesday 30th August. This was an introductory session where candidates got to know each other as well as the St. Paul’s Foundation staff and the school’s Assistant Head of Learning & Teaching, Mrs Ashman. They participated in group dynamics and were introduced to some features they will have access during the course, such as the school’s Learning Resource Centre.
The St. Paul’s Foundation work is focused on offering transformative educational experiences throughout our whole Scholarship Programme – selection process included. We follow up our candidates and scholars closely to support and enrich their journey all the way, joining efforts with the school and all our community to promote inclusion and diversity. Keep up with our blog and website to know more.
