On Tuesday, 3rd December, the St. Paul’s Foundation hosted its annual cocktail, a fundraising event that was this year hosted at Iulia – Jockey Club. This event featured an auction, raffle prizes, and a special pocket show that brought our community together for a fun and meaningful night.
The timing of the event coincided with Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to inspiring generosity. The St. Paul’s community embraced this opportunity to make a significant impact, with all proceeds raised directly benefiting the school’s Scholarship Programme.
These funds will play a crucial role in welcoming 14 new scholars in the upcoming year, contributing to the school’s ongoing goal of supporting 50 scholars by 2026.
Mr Titus Edge, St. Paul’s Headmaster, explains the St. Paul’s Foundation aligns with the school core values. “As a school we always believed in the transformative power of education. What we are doing is opening the door wider to ensure that a St. Paul education is available to young men and young women of flair and talent whatever their financial means.”
During the event, he also highlighted how the impact our Scholarship Programme makes in the school community can be perceived for many years ahead. “This is something we are looking at generational terms: we are not looking at a few years, we are looking at the decades ahead. What we are doing here is going to make a generational difference. We are still at the very early stages and yet, at this early stage we’re already seeing the impact: the scholars themselves enjoying a fantastic St Paul’s education, but also the other pupils and the wider community benefiting from that injection of talent and fresh perspectives. That’s so important.”
Our pupils were actively involved in the event, with some prefects and pupils from other forms helping to manage the activities and collect donations. Two heartfelt testimonials highlighted the transformative power of the Scholarship Programme. Dora, an Upper 6th pupil and prefect, shared her perspective on how the school has evolved since the introduction of the programme, reflecting on the lasting positive changes it has brought to the school community. Emily, a scholar that recently joined St. Paul’s, spoke about the life-changing impact the scholarship has had on her in just a few short months.
The auction offered a diverse range of items, including stunning art pieces, autographed football shirts, resort stays, and even a traditional English tea with our Headmaster!
The generosity of the St. Paul’s community during the event contributed to a successful evening that directly supports the future of the school’s Scholarship Programme.
