The 17 candidates running for scholarships for 2022 entry have started their Term 2 for the preparation course. The candidates are 11 to 15 years old and come from different schools in São Paulo and Grande São Paulo. During this term, they will sit three weekly lessons on different subjects led by St. Paul’s volunteer teachers.
The preparation course includes both academic and pastoral sessions. The candidates will meet members of the School Leadership — such as the Headmaster Mr Edge in History sessions; Mr Jonathan Travis in Portfolio Learning, and Mrs Angela Fregonesi will lead an afternoon on the school’s Pastoral System. For this year, the group will have some sessions in two separate groups, according to their age/school year, so the subjects best fit their current level.
Lessons go until early June. This is the final stage of the selection process, and during this term, the St. Paul’s Foundation also lead psychological tests and family visits with the candidates.
The St. Paul’s Foundation supports gifted children whose families are financially and socially struggling and cannot cover the total costs of a St. Paul’s education. Currently, there are nine foundation scholars from F3 to U6. Up to 10 pupils can be granted a full scholarship under the programme next August.
